DESCRIPTION:Start your day with calm\, flow­ing move­ments: Qigong is a tradi­tional Chinese move­ment art that has been prac­ticed for centuries to promote health and relaxation. \nThe exer­cises can be done while stand­ing\, sitting\, or even just in your mind. This makes them easy to adapt to differ­ent phys­i­cal abil­i­ties. This video demon­strates a selec­tion of simple and sooth­ing move­ments that can promote inner peace and give you new energy for the day.  \nUpon request\, singing bowls may also be used during certain exer­cises. SUMMARY:The World of Kite Flying
DESCRIPTION:How do you safely get a kite into the air? What’s the differ­ence between single-line\, two-line\, and multi-line kites? And what role do the “ground crew” play? In this work­shop\, Klaus Michels offers a glimpse into the fasci­nat­ing world of kite flying.  \nFirst\, we’ll work together to set up a single-line kite and attach show kites to it. Next\, we’ll explore vari­ous stunt kites\, both with and with­out frames. We’ll also use wind socks and wind chimes that are secured to the ground.  \nAfter that\, it’s time to give it a try. Depend­ing on the wind condi­tions\, partic­i­pants can fly differ­ent kites and gain some initial expe­ri­ence. Feel free to bring your own kites. Anyone with prior kite-flying expe­ri­ence is welcome to help out the group.  \nPlease note: The work­shop is subject to wind and weather condi­tions. The number of sessions that can be held will there­fore be decided on short notice and announced approx­i­mately one day in advance.

SUMMARY:Photo Exhibition “Against Forgetting”
DESCRIPTION:The trav­el­ing exhi­bi­tion gives people with thalidomide-related disabil­i­ties a face and a voice. The portraits on display were created in 2023 as part of a book project by the Inter­essen­ver­band Contergan­geschädigter NRW e.V. (Asso­ci­a­tion of People Affected by Conter­gan in North Rhine-Westphalia). For this project\, those affected were photographed and inter­viewed about defin­ing expe­ri­ences in their lives: their happi­est moments\, diffi­cult times\, and their hopes for the future.  \nThe exhi­bi­tion features ten of these portraits. Accom­pa­ny­ing audio record­ings invite visi­tors to get to know the subjects better through excerpts from the interviews.

Precisely because public aware­ness of thalido­mide is grad­u­ally fading\, we want to preserve the memory of those who are no longer with us.  \nThis is a time for personal reflec­tions\, memo­ries\, and quiet remembrance.

In the photo book “Images Against Forget­ting – Portraits of People Affected by Conter­gan” and the accom­pa­ny­ing book “Words Against Forget­ting – Conver­sa­tions with People Affected by Conter­gan”\, they speak about their great­est happi­ness\, their saddest moments\, and their dreams. The two works are not only a biograph­i­cal collec­tion for those affected by Conter­gan\, their rela­tives\, and their friends\, but also docu­men­tary accounts by contem­po­rary witnesses for future generations.  \nBooks published by the Conter­gan Victims’ Asso­ci­a­tion (Inter­essen­ver­band Contergan­geschädigter e.V.) will be avail­able for purchase during the confer­ence week.

DESCRIPTION:How has the life of people with thalido­mide damage changed over the decades? What chal­lenges\, expe­ri­ences\, and successes have shaped their path?  \nIn the “Egmond Film Forum\,” we present docu­men­taries and histor­i­cal tele­vi­sion reports that open up differ­ent perspec­tives on the thalido­mide story. They tell of life with thalido­mide damage\, the commit­ment of those affected and their fami­lies\, and the fight for recog­ni­tion\, partic­i­pa­tion\, and self-determination.  \nAmong the films shown are “Voices Against Forget­ting” by Rainer Jagusch (2021)\, “Conter­gan – The Parents” by Andreas Fischer (2003)\, and the WDR produc­tion “Arms\, Legs\, Who Has None\, You Have Two and We Are Free” (1971). The program is comple­mented by excerpts from vari­ous tele­vi­sion reports.  \nThe films run in a contin­u­ous loop\, invit­ing you to drop by at any time\, refresh memo­ries\, and discover new perspectives.
