Siblings often accom\u00adpany us through\u00adout our lives, start\u00ading in early child\u00adhood. Our rela\u00adtion\u00adships with them shape our social and emotional development\u2014both in posi\u00adtive and chal\u00adleng\u00ading ways. Even for only chil\u00addren, the absence of a sibling can play a signif\u00adi\u00adcant role in their own devel\u00adop\u00adment and their expe\u00adri\u00adence of family life.<\/p>\n
The members of the Cologne Thalido\u00admide Support Group aim to gain a better under\u00adstand\u00ading of sibling rela\u00adtion\u00adships in fami\u00adlies affected by thalido\u00admide from personal, profes\u00adsional, and scien\u00adtific perspec\u00adtives. In a small group setting, partic\u00adi\u00adpants are invited to share their own expe\u00adri\u00adences and obser\u00adva\u00adtions with one another and to reflect on them together.<\/p>\n
The focus may be on ques\u00adtions regard\u00ading attach\u00adment and rela\u00adtion\u00adship dynam\u00adics, the divi\u00adsion of roles, close\u00adness and distance, rivalry and conflict, taking on respon\u00adsi\u00adbil\u00adity, and loyalty. We are also inter\u00adested in learn\u00ading which aspects the partic\u00adi\u00adpants consider partic\u00adu\u00adlarly rele\u00advant for an in-depth acad\u00ade\u00admic explo\u00adration of the topic.<\/p>\n
The focus group has an open format and provides a space for shar\u00ading personal expe\u00adri\u00adences as well as profes\u00adsional and acad\u00ade\u00admic perspectives.<\/p>\n
